I know this was one of the blog posts lost with the new site, so I will repost the photos from this wedding later this week.

Hilton Bella Harbor Reception

I knew from the first meeting that Kelly and Ben’s wedding was going to be memorable.  The familes considered it a destination wedding because Dallas was only home to Kelly’s parents and a very small percentage of the guests.  Ben’s family was all over New England, his Marine buddies were all over the country, and Ben and Kelly had already spent time in Denver and Nashville.  The states were too numerous to list at the rehearsal dinner.

The Hilton Bella Harbor in Rockwall hosted this fun group who had never met a stranger in their lives.  The facility is incredible.  It is lakefront property so it has a fabulous view and is surrounded by shopping and entertainment, which allowed all of the out of towners to get by without a rental car.

Hilton Bella Harbor Amber Uplighting

My team added some champagne uplighting to bring the room to life.

Kelly’s family always cooks up surprises at family weddings.  For Kelly & Ben’s wedding, the surprise was for all of the guests to put on a clown nose (see photo #2) when we closed the doors for their introduction.  This was Kelly’s reaction as she walked into the room and saw 140 friends and family in clown noses.

Hilton Bella Harbor Wedding Reception Introductions

A rehearsed first dance that looked elegant but fun.  I loved how the family, Hilton staff, and Hannah from DFW Events worked to incorporate furniture around the dance floor to create lounge space around the dance floor, and it worked out perfectly for the wedding party to sit and enjoy the first dance.

Ben is very focused on cutting the cake.  Kelly is a little more relaxed.

Then it was time to party!

Hilton Bella Harbor Wedding Cotton Eyed Joe

The Hilton Bella Harbor was kind enough to let us do a flutterfetti dance INSIDE of the ballroom.  This is something that can be added to weddings with the blessing of your catering manager (just don’t be surprised if there is a small charge for cleaning it up).

The evening was capped by a sparkler send off (and then everyone headed to the hotel bar).

Special thanks to Laura Parker at Fairy Tale Photography for sharing these sneaks so quickly after the wedding.  I cannot wait to post more in a few weeks.

New Orleans Street Band

Jen and I went to New Orleans at the beginning of the month. While we were there, I shot a quick video of one of the street bands performing in the French Quarter. We had seen these guys a few times in different parts of the quarter, so when we saw them again and I had the camera with video capability I knew I had to get some footage to show people why they need to come spend time in NOLA.

Glad to see you guys are still having a blast and tearing up the dance floor at your friend’s weddings.

This is still one of my favorite wedding moments.

Happy Anniversary Annie & Devin

Happy 1st Anniversary to Annie and Devin!  The Stuckey’s were married at the Bella Donna Wedding Chapel in McKinney and then went right up the street to celebrate at the ranch clubhouse of Stonebridge Ranch Country Club.  To see more photos, check out the Hampton-Morrow Photography blog post.

Fort Worth Club Wedding Reception

Jadrien & McCall celebrated their TCU wedding in style at the Fort Worth City Club.  I posted a video of the dancing that we shot from behind the booth a few months back.  Having just graduated from TCU a few weeks before the wedding, our 18 member wedding party was full of Horned Frogs.  We provided the purple uplighting.  TCU was kind enough to allow Super Frog to pay us a visit and allow for a photo opportunity.

Turquoise Video Productions was kind enough to share this beautiful highlight of their ceremony and reception.

Corona Arch Swing Behind the Scenes

Here is a behind the scenes of how they made the swing and shot the video for the video for my last post.

My favorite part is that one of the guys proposed to his girlfriend on the ropes as she was finishing up her swing (around the 2:45 mark).  What a great story to tell…oh and also you can go check out the YouTube video…

Moab Utah – Corona Arch Swing

I’ve been debating posting about my travels.  Finally, I saw a YouTube video that left me saying “why not!”  Jen and I love to travel and make wonderful memories together.

In April of 2011, we took advantage of no weddings on Easter weekend and did a tour of the Grand Circle.  What is the Grand Circle?  Great question!  You fly into Vegas (bonus) and get a rent car.  You drive northeast through southern Utah seeing 5+ National Parks (Zion, Bryce, Capital Reef, Arches, and Canyonlands).  After Utah, you head south to the Grand Canyon and then complete the circle going back west to Vegas.

It is such a beautiful part of our country.  For as close as the 6 parks are to one another, they are all very unique.  This is not a trip for you if you do not enjoy hiking, nature, or having no 3G cell signal for HUNDREDS of miles.

While we were not quite as adventuresome as these film makers, we were able to see some of these amazing arches at Arches National Park in Moab, Utah.  Corona Arch is not in the National Park, the National Park Service would frown on such behavior, but these arches occur all over this area of Utah.  If you are ever considering visiting this area, definitely email me and I will give you some great places to check out.

Here is a picture of me at Arches in the National Park stressing Jen out.  I climbed atop a very small arch (my opinion).  It ended up making for a great photo even if Jen is screaming “1…2…3…okay get down!”

Wish Upon A Wedding at TPC Craig Ranch

I had the privilege of working with the Wish Upon A Wedding Foundation. Wish Upon a Wedding is a nonprofit organization that provides weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal illness and serious life altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation.

Tiffany and Mark had only been dating about 4 months when she became very ill and was diagnosed with islet cell hyperplasia.  Over the past two years, Tiffany and Mark (and their combined 6 children) have had to go through a lot, but as you can see from the wonderful film Dulock Productions shared below the family is stronger and happy to have each moment together.  To learn more about Tiffany & Mark’s story, check out their love story.

Wish Upon A Wedding

I had the privilege to work with Mark and Tiffany on their wedding.  While every wedding is special, this one meant a little more to everyone involved.

In 2009 Tiffany met Mark and felt like a school girl again. That same night she wrote a poem, “That time, that moment, when you kiss someone and everything around you becomes hazy, and the only thing in focus is you and this person. And you realize that this person is the only person that you are supposed to kiss for the rest of your life, and for one moment, you get this amazing gift, and you want to laugh, and you want to cry because you feel so lucky that you found it, and so scared that it will go away all at the same time.”

Four short months later she was diagnosed with islet cell hyperplasia. The past 2 years Tiffany has battled for her life. Mark has stood by her side with unwavering love. This is their story.  Special thanks to Dulock Productions for sharing such an amazing testimony of love.

I am so honored that Wish Upon A Wedding asked me to be part of something so special.  I cannot wait to share the reception video with all of you tomorrow.
